FVA, The German Research Association for Drive Technology, is launching the BEARING WORLD international conference under the motto “Industrial Research and Science in Dialogue with Practical Application.”
The BEARING WORLD International Bearing Conference is the only international conference in the world dedicated to bearings, with a focus on rolling bearings. “Bearing World is the international expert forum for bearings. Here, researchers and developers from universities and bearing manufacturers come together in dialogue with users and experts from the industry. The goal is to align the drive technology industry more closely to the requirements of the future” explained Dr. Arbogast Grunau of Schaeffler AG and the FVA Management Board.
First-Class Presentations by International Experts
The conference will provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of technology, research, and development in the field of bearings, this year with an emphasis on rolling bearings. Innovative concepts, White Etching Cracks (WEC), reliability and functional safety, tribology and efficiency, and damage diagnosis and avoidance are the main topics of the event. About a quarter of the 28 presentations will be contributed by experts from abroad. All presentations and discussions will be simultaneously translated into German and English.
High-caliber professionals will be drawn to keynote speeches by Bernd Stephan (Senior Vice President Group Technology Development, SKF), Rainer Eidloth (Senior Vice President Bearings-Components Development, Schaeffler), Dr. Tobias Lösche-ter Horst (Head of Group Powertrain Research, Volkswagen), and Prof. Ton Lubrecht (INSA Lyon, France). In the accompanying technical exhibition, companies will have the opportunity to present themselves to an international and professional audience from industry and research.
Rolling Bearings and Industry 4.0
A central issue of Industry 4.0 is monitoring rolling bearings and capturing operating data in order to control and continuously monitor machines and systems. This requires intelligent bearings with integrated sensors and data collection. The goal is to increase reliability and efficiency – reliability and efficiency are also central topics of Bearing World.
“It is important for the FVA research community and users in the industry to receive input from around the world and to network on an international level. That is why we are inviting national and international experts to Bearing World,” stated Bernhard Hagemann, deputy managing director of Forschungsvereinigung Antriebstechnik e. V. (FVA).
